This is it!!! :)
When I disable auto-read flagging completely (i.e., disabling the two
autoread flagging options), the filtering works as you describe.
I've always made TB! do auto-read flagging since I never really wish to
do so manually. It's so repetitive to be doing so but you must have your
reasons which I respect, so no need to defend it now. :)
Anyway, if you enable auto-read flagging to say 20 seconds so that you
have time to manually apply the read flag, you'll see that the filtering
no longer works.
I didn't realize this until now. :)
