No. Just only because it's not true; it wasn't Microsoft's making, but they just followed the modern times. That's more likely the cause of the change than a company marketing computer software. Typewriters evolved. L> Typesetters don't use double spaces. Is that any indication of what is "right" or "wrong"? MS never did typesetting AFAIK. L> Most people choose proportional fonts in word processors, so don't L> use the double space. I don't the use double space, and I prefer fix-font rather than proportinal font. L> So .. it's more a monospace font/typewriter thing than an general rule. No, I think it's a culture thing. In Europe (well, Germany) we never learned double-spacing after a period, and that is true for both myself and my mother. I later learned that in setting books (with proportinal fonts), double spacing after the period is normal. At least in the English language, I would actually have to wake up dear old Aunt Google to check whether this would be true for German as well. I am surprised (and happy for those who want to use it) to learn that TB! accomodates double-spacing. Another feature I won't use... -- Cheers, Thomas. http://thomas.fernandez.hat-gar-keine-homepage.de/ Message reply created with The Bat! 4.1.11 under Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3 ________________________________________________ Current version is 4.1.11 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
