I have an idea for implementing invitational references. Bascially, in the 
reference would be a private SSK. When a client receives such an invitation, it 
would insert its own ref under the private SSK which the sender of the 
invitation can regularly check. This can be extended to allow an invitation to 
be used multiple times: the receiver of the invitation would just try to insert 
under SSK at blahblah/1/ and if it fails under SSK at blahblah/2/ and so on and 
the sender can check under those as well.I am not sure about the security 
implications of such a system or how hard it is to implement but I think it can 
make adding peers easier. Of course, the person being invited has to be on the 
network already...
