We use PGP whole disk encryption - for none of the reasons you offered. I don't think impact on backups really factored into our equation. It works on both platforms. Linux is command line only, still a redheaded step child, we await a fuller embrace by PGP. The primary reasons for WDE: 1. To protect against loss of Intellectual property. Window smash from a car is the single largest source of stolen laptops. 2. Escrowed keys allows management to reassign the property to someone else, as people come and go. _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
