Geoff, Pedro,
And if TinyERP stays strictly tied to Postrgresql it stands very very little
chance of being adopted by any of these companies. And yet these are the
companies that spend a great deal on services surrounding their software.
...
These companies have well defined database architectures and anyone wanting to
introduce new solutions into these environments will have to fit within their
existing architectures.
...
I guess the question comes down to where TinyERP sees itself. If it sees
itself as only servicing small businesses then being tied to one database is
not so bad.
Very interesting this topic.
I myself had experience the same questions and difficulties trying to promote
and sell TinyErp at middle/big corporations.
But I think that the database is not the only problem.

The major problem is that almost all big companies take decisions and buy not
only based on the software qualities, but also based on other factors.
And one of the factors is the marketing hype that the software has behind, and
in the case of TinyErp, the marketing of the product is very poor and limited.
And that help to define the target market, i.e. small businesses. Maybe Tiny
has to change the name to BigERP !!! (only the name, not the software :-) )

Or, maybe, when one or two of really big company embraces TinyErp, then it will
be easier to promote TinyErp.
And, remember that the cost of a big company supporting one more database is
not so important, it's much more a political decision.

So, I suggest Fabien to do more Public Relations with the media, that could
help a lot.
