Hi ankhhealth,

you made a mistake in mindset here. In workcenters you only work with time
components.
The total capacity of a workcenter via the calendar,
The amount of machines (mixers) that can run in parallel in that workcenter
How long 1 production cycle (the actual mixing) will be (in hours)
How many time you need to setup the machine and clean het afterwards.

On the end the system knows how many capacity (in time) is available to produce
a certain product in that workcenter. Then this workcenter and eventually other
workcenters can be attached to a routing.
The next step is to create a BOM (Bill of Material) where you define your end
product, components and subproducts where the end product is produced whit.
This BOM is where you have to insert your powder in lb(s) !!
The created routing can be attached to the BOM.
>From here MRP can create from a sales order the to purchase materials (if not
>available and a production order. Both with calculated start and end dates
>depended on the available capacity from materials and workcenters.
Resulting in the fact that sales knows when the product is ready.

Hope this will help you on track.
