Probably tables appeared on latest version, have not checked that. Half a year
ago there were just bands with bordered fields, where there is no option to
create generic table, looks like one, but does not act as table.

No, there is no sub-reports at the moment, but I did not find useful the way it
is implemented in Jasper or generic Relatorio. So this is feature to go for. In
this case workaround would be copy-paste combination. ;)

For barcodes check the sample report, for crosstabs you will have to do them
with python (knowing statistics, I do not expect the task to be hard to
accomplish).

Charts ... [Laughing], have you ever used OOo for charts, they are native, and
can be used just like any other OpenOffice.org feature. Browse the net, you
will find tons of extra OOo addons for free, while with Jasper you will have to
pay big bucks for almost every extra feature.

And what is the best, if you know how to use OOo (or at least M$ Word and
Excel), then you know 75% of reporting.

About complexity of tasks, I would not say that standard office package, which
is being used by ordinary users all around the world, would be more
complicated, than iReport with X-paths and Java on any task.

Text formating...

Standard customer agreement, where the customer requisites should be placed
right inside the text flow (the formated one, with bullets, dynamic numbering,
etc.). This is normal report for ERP package. The initial document is being
often supplied as the Word or Writer.

Just imagine, how much time it would take you, to recreate the formatting for
2...3 pages in Jasper, whilst I will take the original doc/odt file, open it in
OOo Writer, place required fields - 10 minutes of work.
