This is the point!
Traditionally, adjuncts were either graduate students or applications
people working in the field and teaching an occasional course in their
specialty.
Unfortunately, in line with the corporate trend towards 'outsourcing' and
employing temp workers, postsecondary institutions have been making
adjuncts part of their permanent employment mix, replacing fulltime faculty
members.
