With the large number of DVRs out there, youda thunk that the broadcast
industry would have taken advantage of the switch to digital to implement
some rudimentary flags that tell DVRs when a show has ended (and when it is
starting too) so that people wouldn't miss the end of their favorite show.

The natural extension to this would be flags that say when the commercials
are starting and ending. This could be used by DVRs to allow people to skip
(which of course the broadcasters would not want), or it could be used to
prevent skipping (which the broadcasters would love).
