Yeah, it *was* quite a shock for all of us. Only a few of you knew that my mom had
breast cancer. She was very strong through the entire ordeal though--never giving up,
always brave and just ready to get everything done and move past it. She had her
surgery and was going through so much afterward, but she was a fighter. Her chemo was
making her very sick to where she could hardly eat, and she had gone into the hospital
after the first one when her white blood cell count soared to 53,000 when it should
have only been 6 or 7 thousand. Shortly after they got her count back down and
cleared up an infection that had ensued, she was doing better, but then her second
chemo treatment came up. She got really sick again, and something told me that while
I was in San D, she would go back into the hospital. I didn't think she would die
though. It's still a shock, because for all of us, we knew that she'd get through it
and be okay. Basically, because she wasn't eating very much at all, the platelets in
her blood were very low, thus her blood became very thin, and she started bleeding
internally. She had a brain hemmorage and two strokes while in the hospital.

I'm just glad that I went to visit her the night before I left for San D, and that I
wasn't in town to see her in the state she was in while in the hospital. I want to
encourage everyone though not to take your relationship with those you love for
granted, because if this experience has taught me one thing, it's that life is so very
uncertain.

Anyway, sorry for the novel. And I appreciate the thoughts and prayers and cards
everyone has bestowed upon me.

Dawn
