Incoming and outgoing are two very nice features, since they annotate
the graph itself instead of just spewing a list of changesets.  I
don't think they should be hidden.

All the options in the sync bar are available from the Synchronize
menu, so it can be safely hidden without much loss of functionality.
You only need the bar to chose another path.

There is an open enhancement request to make the main toolbar more
configurable, and that will probably happen pretty soon on the default
branch.  You'll be able to pick the size of the icon, or just make it
text.
