Thanks Phil I know many forum members think that the idea of using 192K files is just silly but I buy my music from Linn and if they offer 192K 'Studio Masters' I am certainly going to buy them!
I believe I can hear a difference between decoding on SB and decoding on the server, although downsampling might have spoiled the effect anyway. I think the SB can compete successfully in a higher market niche than it seems to be aimed at and an opportunity is being lost by not having 192K compatibility when the hardware and most of the software will support it. I can't see a re-written ALSA layer costing more than pennies per unit at the volumes I imagine they are selling at.
