The X-10d was rebuilt with new diodes, caps etc. Sounds "quicker" (hard to explain). The x-10 "magic" comes from the nuvistor valves. The DAC mod was way more important. The X-PSU is just a very nice multi-secondary toriodal transformer in a pretty box. It probably has more of a benefit to the x-head amp than anything else.. It is in fact optimal to do the AC-DC conversion in the DAC - you do not want the regs a long way away from the circuit that uses the DC for several reasons. -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
