Hi John,

I have my SB Touch for about 6 months now and I like it very much!
It's very easy to operate, and sounds great for the money.

I tried 3 dac's so far and the results are quite remarkable.

The first dac I tried was the one I already had on my (previous) SB
Classic, namely the wellknown Cambridge Audio DACmagic.
It did some lovely things on the end of a SB Classic, but it didn't
seem to do anything for the Touch. (so, I sold the DACmagic in the end)

Then I tried the very expensive Naim dac. voices gained a little more
body and there was some more depth into the soundstage...that's about
it.
Nice though, but only if the price were about 1/3 of the price.
(the Naim dac costs about 9 times the price of the SB Touch here in
Holland)

Currently I have a dac that had the same price as the SB Touch.
It's a very small, handmade dac called the Metrum NOS mini Dac.
(only available by ordering directly from the manufacturer,
http://www.metrum-acoustics.nl/NOS_mini_DAC.html).

After a raving review on a Dutch HiFi site I decided to take the plunge
and order one.
I got a mail that I was placed on the waiting list of about 4 weeks!
(they were already sold out!)

I'm still not really sure if I can live with the reproduction of the
high frequenties, as they're a little too smooth/polished to my taste.
(I'd like a bit more sparkle and bite)
Still,...the midrange is truly wonderful! (even better than the Naim
DAC!)
Voices sound so pure and lifelike.

I understand that it's difficult to recommend a very unknown brand dac,
that's only got 1 online review (in Dutch) so far, and is only available
by contacting the manufacterer, but I only wanted to say that the right
dac really can make a positive difference on the SB Touch.

Eventhough the SB Touch already sounds pretty good on its own, and in
my experience the price of a dac doesn't say that much.

regards,
Alco
