What exactly do you mean by this. Are there actually
distortions.problems (pops, clicks, interference, etc.) or do you simply
mean, "plays just fine, sounds fine, but just doesn't sound as good"? 
And I'm sure you probably understand that even almost imperceptible
differences in volume between two sources can make the slightly "louder"
source sound "better" to our ears.  This is why careful volume matching
is always required in double blind listening tests. Subjects in such
experiments always choose the almost imperceptibly louder source as
sounding "better".
