I completely agree. The powerline approach does require certain wiring
configurations and in some circuit configurations simply won't work at
all. My house was built in 1918, but was completely rewired in 2009
(replacing the original knob & tube wiring!). I only use the powerline
in one spot (I have cat6 virtually everywhere, but who knew that my wife
wanted a Squeezebox Radio in her closet!!!!).

It is only very slightly warm to the touch. I use for several hours a
day and in about 5 months of use, I've had zero issues.
