Yes, but as 'geradeaus' as these appear to be, to this noob (me) I still
don't know how one gets a web browser up unless the Pi is connected to a
desktop via ethernet or my ultrabook via wifi.. And once up and running
the same goes, how do I access the Pi without another computer (assuming
I am not going to use it with a keyboard, mouse and screen, which I know
it can be rigged up to). Am I missing something basic here which is
causing me to overcomplicate matters?

My network is pretty solid as I have a good wifi router (Asus RT-68U) so
if this is good enough (and there is not too much interference from
other close by wi-fi networks, which depends on where I live, currently
not a problem, but I move around a bit) then maybe the WD Passport might
be easiest and probably cheapest solution.
