I agree about the potential for adding confusion, but at the same time it is nice to have the functionality documented. Ideally, I think we might mention it as a footnote, which is the type of situation I had in mind when opening ticket 9037. I'll try to add it to the synonyms to the page in a way that adds minimal "option overload".
