Thanks for the comments.  I have a local event coming up at the end of February 
for which I really wanted to have an effective fill-in digi available.  I used 
my existing board last year for the same event and it was OK but certainly less 
than ideal.

Based on what I've heard here and in past posts as well, I've ordered a new 
board and will keep the original one as a spare.  I had actually started 
considering acquiring a KPC-3 for use with another radio, but this arrangement 
is so compact that it's hard to beat (providing it works satisfactorily - and 
it sounds as if the new board will be noticeably better).
