Well that makes sense.

So you are saying that the 5V line in the FMI cable to the T2 is coming FROM 
the Nuvi instead of TO the nuvi??

Here is what I have:  mini-B side:  pin1=5V 
 pin 2=-data    pin3=+data   pinx 8.2k to gnd to tell nuvi it is in FMI mode,  
and pin4=5V

So why does the T2 need to get 5V fr the Nuvi?

BTW. I am trying to minmize the number of wires since this is to be a portable, 
system with all contained in a small carry bag except the remote nuvi antenna 
and the 2M antenna.
