Perhaps VRMS could be improved to detect: - - External (non-Trisquel) software repositories - - Javascript/browser extensions (often installed in personal users space w/op their knowledge) - - Suspicious, common, knonw non-free software (Flash, Skype) that are often installed manually - - Occurrence of dpkg -i commands in history (often an indicator of non-free manual installs) Checking agains the FSF free software directory http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Main_Page may be another interesting option. If contributed upstream/patched into VRMS, additional options to check for 100% compliance would also bring attention to Trisquel from the other distributions.
