PayPal is a bad company for some people, which is fair enough, but its design is good, as it removes a certain amount of risk of online payments systems. The payments system does not have to be PayPal by any means, for instance Stripe is used by the Humble Bundle website, and it works well enough. There is also the U.S.-only Dwolla which if I recall correctly Tor offer an option to donate through. There are various other such online payments systems, too many to name here.
Rejecting PayPal does not mean offering the wire transfer only.
