Dear Bruce,
 
Did ye never read in the scriptures, "And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:....?" MAR 2:27   
 
 
Jesus said that it was not made for Israel, but for man.  -----
 
The blessed day, the Sabbath, is a 'sign' or a 'mark' for Israel, i.e. those people whom the Lord has set appart.
 
That it was observed by the faithful prior to Moses is also self evident by the very existence of the seven day week, a universal phenomenon unatached to anything seen in the movement of heavenly bodies.
