Now I'm thinking....

Jewel Staite and pop sci-fi. There must be some magic formula between the two
that I don't know about that keeps it at cult status.

I'll let you know when I find it.

Well, Kevin may share my particular opinion that Grace Park has difficulty
acting her way into a paper sack, that Greek tragedy is really difficult to
make consistently compelling, and that a show full of characters that aren't
terribly likable (if at all likable) makes for a chore of a show to watch.

Or he may have other completely reasonable explanations as for why Battlestar
is not the uber-classic the entertainment press can't seem to praise often
enough.

No, I'm not a clone. I find Alec Baldwin (along with Jack McBrayer), the
only reasons to suffer through 30 Rock, and enjoy Firefly immensely. The
Stargate shows are just big buckets of meh.

Hmmm. Fun read. As for my take, I thought all of them were crap when
they were first released - although occasionally enjoyed the pulpy
aspects of the original "Battlestar," mostly because I found it
amusing that the voice of the shadowed Imperious Leader was obviously
Patrick "John Steed" Macnee of "The Avengers," a classy, droll show I
still revere. And yes, Valerie Bertinelli was pretty damned cute back
in the day (and back to MILF-iness since the dieting, I'd say). As for
the disdain you seem to express towards the terrific, thoughtful
update of "BSG," I can only shrug and lump it in with your hatred of
Alec Baldwin as another of life's inexplicable oddities.
