Hi Mohan: on the basis of the information you provided, perhaps the HDD is Seagate ST3320620AS with 16MB cache buffer with no NCQ support Please see http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=Barracuda_7200.10_SATA_320.3_GB&vgnextoid=2d1099f4fa74c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD&vgnextchannel=a32a2f290c5fb010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD&reqPage=Model NCQ is 'Native Command Queuing'. NCQ is essentially a technique to optimize SATA disk performance by optimizing the order in which received read and write commands are executed. Linux kernels support NCQ natively through a generic Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) driver. If you are using WinXP, you need to install vendor specific driver. thansk Saifi.
