The case of the original reporter of this bug has been confirmed to be
invalid.  If you are experiencing a similar issue, please file your own
bug report and include the output of parted -l, and debconf-show grub-
pc.  Bear in mind the following, that will indicate that you also have a
misconfiguration, and not a valid bug:

1)  If grub-pc/install_devices is empty, or only has one drive but you
have multiple drives installed, then you need to run dpkg-reconfigure
grub-pc and make sure you select all of your drives, as this error
happens when you have a broken grub installed on one drive, and that is
the drive your bios is booting, even if you have a good install on
another drive

2)  If you have used grub-repair in the past, that runs grub-install for
you but does not update grub-pc/install_devices, so errors such as this
will happen when grub is upgraded, since the system does not know it
needs to run grub-install again to update your boot drive after
upgrading the grub files in /boot/grub.
