Despite each merge being different, I'd like to encourage any
contributors who have made a first deviation from Debian to watch
merges.ubuntu.com regularly: if the package you updated is also
updated in Debian, you will be the most knowledgeable person about the
change, and likely the best to evaluate whether to request a sync or
to reapply the change to the new Debian revision.

After doing a few of your own, the process should feel more
comfortable, and it's worth looking at others to see how you can help.

I'll second this, and further ask anyone working on their own
merge who finds this page to be confusing to ask questions in the (to
be added) "Questions" section at the bottom of the page, to help
improve the quality of the documentation.
