For me that wouldn't work since my computers wouldn't have enough power left to handle the audio and video for me. I like to keep everything as low as possible to let the computer put in everything on the applications I'm using. That's just me and newer hardware might not have any issue with Unity or other heavier DE. For my own work I would have to stick with something like Xfce anyway. As Ubuntu Studio is its own distribution I see no harm in it having its own DE. If everyone has different DE and menus it's a bit harder to help IMHO. If the goal is to support multimedia production on all Ubuntu flavors then is there really a need for a Ubuntu Studio distribution? /Jimmy
