It's a good idea. You just need a secure way to get the data and then to return it to the client.
Most places will accept mainly physical drives (better chance of recovering all the data), but will send the data back to the client on either multiple CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Disks, HDDs, Tapes or a Secure FTP site.
