For 12.04.1 LTS users with constant crash problems as described here and on-board ATI/AMD/Radeon graphics cards, this looks promising: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack If you want the 3.5 kernel and xorg packages from 12.04.2 made available in LTS for 'hardware enablement' purposes run: sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-quantal xserver-xorg-lts-quantal
