I have looked at this chip, too - and have decided against it.

This chip is NOT designed to execute code from external memory. It is 
possible, but without a data or instruction cache, the resulting speed will be 
so slow, that the usage is very limited.

Take a decent chip with a good community and plenty of computing power.
I can recommend the blackfin CPU.
