/usr/local violates System V filesystem standards. For details, pleasesee filesystem(5) manual page. /opt/etc/opt/var/opt are reserved for "third party and unbundled applications". In other words/usr/local should never exist on the system and hacking files into /usr/localis, well... I better keep my trap shut and not say what that is. Bottom line: please don't teach newcomers?to (Open)Solaris to use /usr/local. /usr/local has no place on Solaris, never did, never will, and the filesystemspecifications?are?quite clear on that. If you must use /usr/local you could for example put in a disclaimer?as to whyit should never be?used. _________________________________________________________________ Your E-mail and More On-the-Go.
