what gentoo ebuilds are on the server?
It's everything from the main portage tree; would others be useful?
There's currently a test server that has those ebuilds; it's on a
relatively
slow link, so it's easily saturated, but it can be used from UMD or
any other Internet2-connected university:
rsync rsync://mirror.kennyt.com/gentoo-portage/
Also, on the campus, you can NFS mount the portage tree:
# mv /usr/portage /usr/portage-local; mkdir /usr/portage
# mount -t nfs mirror.kennyt.com:/pub/gentoo-portage /usr/portage
+ In make.conf, change DISTDIR to, e.g., /usr/portage-distfiles
and change PKGDIR to /usr/portage-pkg or something.
(There's a website explaining what's [going to be] available,
but I don't want to post it to the list before we hear from OIT/CS.
E-mail me if you/anyone want(s) the URL / more info.)
