OK Walter...just a moment. Don't be such a Scrooge
....if that is possible.
:-)

If what you say happened, it was of course off-putting to say
the least. A momentary slip in courtesy doesn't erase the entire
experience at Marigold for everyone else. It could have happened
anywhere. Now.. if your parents said the food was lousy, that would
speak more to the point.

It shouldn't be a contest of what is the best restaurant
in U-City because it would be impossible to make that
claim. Everyone has a favorite. Many people will find
Marigold expensive for their taste and compared to most
U-City eateries, it probably is. However, there are price
comparables such as LaTerrasse, White Dog, and Pod that
were here already.

For me it was a matter of discovery, being happy to see a fine
renovation on a local property and excitement about a place
that is two blocks from my house that reminds me of Center
City dining, that is progress!

I dine out for business and pleasure often, so I'm not experiencing
"sticker shock". I agree with Andrew, it is a place that I will
patronize.
The Chef and many staff are from a Rittenhouse Square restaurant called
"Salt". The Manager is from Georgetown in Washington D.C. to give
you an idea of their qualifications and frame of reference.

We need to applaud the addition and support it so that it will
stay around. Knowing Wilma's exposure to fine dining, I'm sure
that she and Alex will find it a place that they will enjoy walking
to often.

My 4 cents.

S.

Strike One on them.

My Parents went there the other night to try them out.
They arrived a few minutes early before official doors, The staff person

rudely said they were not open yet. They (my parents) asked if they
could sit on
the porch for the 10 to 15 min. until they were officially open and the
staff
person again said rudely "He would prefer if they not hang out. "

At that point RX still the best local restaurant was the obvious choice
for
dinner
Greg and his staff had no problem with providing them not only with
glasses
for there wine but some complementary bread while they waited for a
table.

If Marigold wants to attract new customers and stay in business they
better
learn that good customers are hard to find and keep...
