Didn't try Xubuntu, but the latest Debian-4.

Just this morning, I installed Debian-4, from DVD, on a Asus P5B-VM
mobo, SATA2, DC2, latest slimserver via apt-get, with all the deps,
abcde ripper, and so on, with no install problems what-so-ever. ACPI
and the powerstuff works too. Need to test the SS tonight.

I tried the install on a VIA Mini-ITX v10000, without problems too. It
seems that Debian has made a nice distribution this time. It frankly
installs on everything x86 based I have tried.

Tried it on a MSI mobo as well, with dual AMD MP2400+, SCSI 320
controller and SCSI drives, no problems. Also on a ASUS A8N, AMD 3200+,
SATA drives, etc, worked fine here too.

Also tried a HP Vectra, 1GHz, 256MB RAM, it's actually a nice low-noise
setup. Just as you might guess, it runs ok here too.

If you have problems installing Ubuntu on your hardware, try the latest
Debian. It just might do the trick, and it's very fast too. Automatix2
works without issues as well, just for the ease of it.

I mainly use Ubuntu 6.06, 6.10 and 7.04 on my notebooks and desktops,
but I have a few PCs with Debian4, it's just as fast if not faster,
more responsive I would say.
