Automatix2 can be used to install NTFS R/W support, on Debian based systems. So if you choose one of those, you can get NTFS support very easy. It's mainly just to install Automatix2 via apt-get, run it, and select what you want, eg. multimedia support, codecs, mediaplayers, tag software, NTFS R/W, and so on. It's actually very easy.
If you can learn Debian from the start, you will do yourself a great favor. Debian is not as hard as it was some years ago. The installer has greatly improved, so that newbies can use it too. You can select webserver, mysql, desktop, and so on, during the install procedure. When you have to install SlimServer on Debian, just follow the instructions in the Wiki. It's not that hard :-)... or ask around. Apt-get, or the Advanced Packaging Tool (APT), takes care of all the dependencies for you. It's actually one of the best package tools around. To sum it up: Install Debian or a Debian based distribution on the free drive. Install Automatix2 via apt-get, run it and select what you need. Install SlimServer via apt-get. Look in the wiki on how-to. Install additional tools, like rippers etc. That's basically it... /FAF -- FAF ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FAF's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10716 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35851 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
