You should be able to query the database pretty easily by downloading
MySQL Administrator and Query Browser and perhaps also switching on SQL
Logging in SqueezeCenter.

The below works on a Windows install - but guess that it will also be
required to unbind on a linux build as well.

If you have a firewall, make sure port 9092 is accessible.

Edit /usr/share/squeezecenter/MySQL/my.tt and comment out the line:

bind-address = [% bindAddress %]

..so that it reads:

#bind-address = [% bindAddress %]

Restart SC.

You can then use mysql-Adminstrator, connecting to your server's IP on
port 9092 to look at the tables in the "slimserver" catalog.

There may also be some relevant info in Slim/Formats/Wav.pm.

Finally, if you are using a form of Guess Tags functionality to get the
info into iTunes in the first place, would it work any better for you to
take iTunes.xml out of the equation entirely as your music source and
use Squeezecenter's built in Guess Tags functionality? Or are you
using smart playlists and the like from iTunes as well?
