The alix is not really able to handle transcoding with sox, or at least
not something over 24/96. O have recently posted about my attempts at
building an all-in-one SBS server on this platform. I've not given up
but there is not much room. If you don't run SBS on the alix then all is
well.
It has an IDE port, so if you want to plug a big drive it's either usb
(ok) or a sata mini-pci card. I have an Aaeon that works just fine, but
you'll have to look for it. (and decide how to bing power to the
drive.)
Very reliable hardware, in my experience.
