According to this: http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/HW/USB_DAC_AsyncSlow.htm, the dragonfly is a class 1 async dac. So it will need a hub to work on an imx6 (assuming the cubox does not put a hub between the processor and the usb ports anyway?) The problem you describe sounds like the feedback mechanism not working - you can diagnose this by looking at /proc/asound/<card>/stream0 while it is running and checking that the Momentary freq is changing while playing (it should vary on repeated cats of that file around the nominal frequency).
