Steen, I think, for me, this is the best way of storing the brightness value. My limited lua and linux knowledge prevent me from building a better solution ;) I already have a working mockup working on SqueezePlay. The real brightness control will have to be tested on a real Pi. This should be just reading from and writing to /sys/class/backlight/rpi_backlight/brightness.
