USB drives are typically `green` drives with onboard logic that will spin down and park(!) the drive if it hasn't been used for ~7 seconds. These type of drives are horrible for running a linux based OS as they will kill themselves after about 2 years use because the OS usually only writes new log entries every ~15 seconds. You can check the so-called `load_cycle_count` with smartctl (smartmontools) to verify how close your drive is to permanent failure. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gordonb3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71050 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114879 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
