It does!! And it works. For testing purposes I set the idle timer to 120 seconds /home/tc/hd-idle -i 120 I have already done some testing across rebooting, playing files, switching to radio etc and it seems to just work as intended. I cannot explain how irrationally glad that made me. Thank you.
