Very interesting, Phil.  Thank you.  I may need to be more detailed 
with the specific SIIG card I'll be using.

It's the SIIG Ultra ATA 133/100 Pro

Do you know if this first 8 gig partition issue applies to this 
specific card as well?

I've just realized something.  Last night when I did an "apple system 
profiler" on the system with that card in it, I was wondering why it 
was saying it was a "scsi" card.  I think you may have just solved 
that issue, and it leads me to believe that the first 8 gig partition 
issue might NOT be a problem with this card.

Thoughts are welcome.
