With Quartz Extreme enabled it will certainly be noticeable, but as 
Liam says, not dramatic. Bear in mind that the card is designed 
'ideally' for B&W G3s and Yikes! PCI G4s. It will run at 66MHz but the 
8500 (in fact all old World Macs) have only has a 33HMz bus which will 
bottleneck things a bit. I think it will probably have the best 
advantage over the IX3D card during times of heavy usage when older 
cards with less VRAM will start swapping stuff in and out of the system 
RAM and slowing the machine down as a whole.
