Hello! I've been lurking here for a while, waiting to get my stuff set up with Jaguar before I started tinkering.
Well anyway, last night I got it up and running on my 8500, packing a 400/512 Sonnett, 468 meg of ram, stock cd, 4-port generic usb, Twin Turbo 8 meg card in addition to the onboard video (pushing twin Apple 17-inch monitors) and a generic (Acard-romm'ed ) ATA33 card with 3 drives (none of which show up in X- but that's another story and I am working on it). Currently, X is installed on a 2 gig 50 pin SCSI drive pulled from my 7200 and running great. I know that Quartz Extreme or whatever exactly it's called should make a tremendous difference in my overall speed here, more than especially in the graphics speed (which seems a little lacking!). I can deal with a slower computer but the display speed is somewhat short. Can anyone recommend a PCI video card that would work well with this configuration? Preferably one with dual monitor support, so I can just pull the Twin Turbo and plug it all in? I know several cards off the top of my head that are X compatible but how many of them on an Old World machine? And how many of them for under $150? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
