I have placed and booted the _same_ ATA drive in the following:

9600 w/G3-400
beige G3 233
B & W G3 300
PCI-graphics G4 350
G4 400
G4 933

If the drive has the required .kext files, the system will load them as
needed, and ignore the  rest.
