Tim,

Thanks for comments. Sorry Mac is 9600 (originally 233 so not mach 5 vers) running sonnet G3/300/1MB, 466 non interleaved RAM, ATI Radeon 7000 Mac Edition, Sonnet ATA100 PCI card attached to Seagate Baracutta 40GB 7200rpm, Mitsubishi CDRW 40/16/10 and 6 GB 5200rpm (From B&W) as well as original SCSI CD, SCSI 4 GB and 2 GB SCSI. Plus PCI Firwire/USB combo, PCI TV Tuner, PCI Ultra SCSI card... I think that's everything ... ecept sonnet card is being managed by PowerLogix software to control MB cache (presently On)

I already have 10.2.6 running (On SCSI 4GB) so installation went fine during upgrade from 10.1.5 to 10.2 then 10.2.6. 10.2.6 install/upgrade happened with all above config in place - everything is still recognised too.

What's puzzling is that I now cannot (and I use this word advisedly) "boot" from 10.2 CD (or even original 10.1 CD) to install X onto a recently added 6 GB HD to my system. I've tried placing CD into original SCSI CD as I too thought that ATA card may be problem. I will go to Sonnet site and see if I've got latest firmware for card and try again

Any additional thoughts, comments welcome

Regards

Simon
