You are running OSX on an UNSUPPORTED Mac !!!
Probably a PCI Mac.
This means that the ROM chip on your motherboard is OS9 compliant.
When you start up off a CD holding down the C key you are eliminating access to
ALL of the resources in your computer EXCEPT whatever is contained on the ROM
SIMM and the operating system on the CD in the CD-ROM drive. The ROM on your
computer will enable OS 9.1 and earlier systems only.

back to the original issue....
Naturally, I'm on an unsupported machine (9600/G4/800) and everything worked fine when I first installed Jag. My CDRW/DVD was a G4 pull and was not mentioned because the issue is not merely booting from the CD drive, but booting from ANYTHING besides the 10.2.6 drive. I can't get into XPostFacto from OSX and have tried holding the C key, the option key as well as a dozen other different things.
I cannot boot onto any other partition (8.6 included) or any other CD (9.1 included) since I upgraded to 10.2.6. Any suggestions that I haven't tried?
