Got a PL 900 MHz CPU for Christmas (YAY!).
CPU runs excellent.
My only issue?
My flashed 64 MB Radeon cards (both of them), give a garbled display when I have this CPU installed. My 32 MB retail cards work without issue.
I am running OS X 10.3.2, 896 MB RAM.
Any help? PLEASE? I am desperate for my 64MB cards, it makes a difference in Q3 and HALO...
-Josh
So the 64 MB Radeon cards work fine with your machine using a different upgrade and everything but the G3 900MHz upgrade is the same? This must be a G3 900MHz Zif used with a Carrier card in your Old world Mac which you don't mention? If so the only thing I can think of is the G3 upgrade is running faster then the Video RAM on the Video card can handle. The Radeon Video cards come with a wide range of RAM speed chips. They are clearly marked. For example the RAM chips will say -5 which means 50ns RAM. a few cards even come with -6 (60ns) RAM this would likely be too slow for your upgrade. -3.6 &
-4 chips (30.6 and 40ns) either of which should be fine. My -5 card works fine with 550MHz G 3 not sure what it's limit will be.
If I were you I'd lower the CPU setting on the G3 900 card and see if it will run the cards at a slower speed. Which would show if that is the issue. It's easy to do using the Powerlogix CPU Director software. I'd try like 600MHz and see what that does just for checking. Best of luck Will S
