yes Protools Free is the cheapest
way... use os 9 and you can use built
in audio jacks for straight audio work...
also get a relatively cheap midi interface
(i have a Midiman Macman) now midiman is
called M-audio for around $25. hook into
yr serial port and you can at least
start doing midi work with an external
synth.
as stated before others will have better
recommendation on midi specific programs
or using virtual instruments.
??Garageband?
and if you are going to burn to disc,
then youll need a cd writer and toast.
